It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and once went over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the chance.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

Many contend the reasoning behind final game tension. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it was a frustrating experience because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from there the batsman was in motion.

"An opportunity to play and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun that way, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was removed Australia needed 66 more at run per delivery - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this championship need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this victory coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
